sleep baby, sleep...

well it looks like dad took the snow with him to AZ, and he brought back kaylee's fussiness and gave it to alice (dad's words). hehe. the whole time dad was here alice was the crabbiest i'd ever seen her and even mommy had a hard time consoling her. sunday she was like this as well and the whole time i was at my in-law's house i was holding her b/c it was the only way she wasn't screaming at the top of her lungs. at first i thought she was teething b/c she has been drooling a lot, but there doesn't seem to be anything going on in her mouth.

yesterday i came to the conclusion that she has been fussy b/c she's overtired. i've been letting her nap unswaddled in her swing, bouncy seat, etc and when she does this she doesn't sleep more than 20 minutes or so. i thought that must be all she needed b/c when she wakes up she's happy. well yesterday i picked her up right after she woke up from one of these short naps and she went to sleep no more than a minute later. so i swaddled her and put her in her crib. she slept for 3 more hours! :) so for now she'll nap swaddled or on mommy. i don't want to see my baby like that again!

diaper duty

i realized something today. of all the things i was looking forward to when i was pregnant, believe me changing diapers was not high on my list. there is something about stinky bodily fluids that just turns my stomach in knots (this girl can knock you down with the stench that comes from her rear end). but believe it or not i actually look forward to changing alice's diaper and it's because that is when she is at her happiest. wouldn't you be? not only do you get to have clean pants, but a full belly as well (she gets changed after she eats).

you may notice that a lot of pics i post of alice have the same background. that's because i'm changing her diaper and the background is the guest bed (buahhahha! don't worry, i use a pad AND i clean the sheets). i get such a kick out of all the squeals, giggles, smiles, and baby talk that we sometimes are in there for 30 minutes. now she is this way at other times, but she's almost always super happy at diaper changing time.

i honestly never thought that one of the most disgusting tasks of parenthood, could be one of my favorites.

Blogger is still being a PITA and it isn't letting me upload any pics. looks like it MIGHT have something to do with a firewall, but what do i know. i'll have to have matt look at it. in order to post pics from photobucket i have to make them RIDICULOUSLY small and when you click on them they don't get larger so i really don't want to post the pics that way. this site is really starting to piss me off.



alice still loves to be swaddled so i went out and bought some more fabric to make even larger blankets.

EDIT: i took down the original pic and uploaded this one through blogger so it can be enlarged...not that anyone really cares to look closer at a bunch of fabric, but hey i thought i'd fix it while blogger was being nice.

the three amigos. l-r is matt, fred, and steve. steve lives in AZ and he flew in as a xmas surprise the day after xmas. can you tell they are related??

and finally one of alice. daddy found her like this one morning. he was quite amused that she squirmed so much her shirt was coming down along with her blankets. poor baby, she obviously wants out of her straight jacket and instead daddy went to fetch the camera.

so things here are fine. alice is growing like a weed and is already wearing some 6 month outfits. yes, i said SIX months! before i know it she's going to be a year old and i'm sure it's all downhill from there. at this rate 18 years is going to feel like one!
