ow my duodenum!!
for this entry i'm just going to copy and paste some of my posts from a message board i frequent b/c i don't want to retype it all. :)
a little background...yesterday at 1am i woke up with a bad pain in my abdomen. it felt like i had gas that was stuck in one spot yet going to the bathroom didn't relieve it. needless to say i didn't get much sleep b/c of it. i thought it was just gas from being PG....
i'll be back for personals later after my dr appointments...but i just wanted to let you girls know that it wasn't gas that i had.
here's the rest of the story. so over the day the pain in my gut and back got worse...then it would feel better...then it would come back and worse than it ever was. so good thing my boss showed up at 4 to relieve me b/c by this time the pain was so bad i was crying. the last time i remember being in that much pain i had appendicitis w/ gangrene! so matt comes to get me (good thing he worked super early yesterday so he was home much earlier than normal) b/c i didn't want to walk home, at least not alone. so anyway i'm home for no more than 20 min and the whole time i'm crying...so finally matt says we're going to the ER.
i get there and i was so happy they were able to take me right away...in a wheelchair non the less. i was also really pleased that they did things VERY promptly. anyway so the nurse said that it was sounding like it may be a kidney stone (by the time we got there i also had this needle like pain in my urethra). so after the dr sees me (and he thought the same) they gave me something very close to morphine (apparently it's safe in PG). that kicked in right away and i was able to relax for the first time since 1am the previous night! so while i was waiting for them to take me to u/s they put in a catheter (had them before w/o problem, but since i had the urethra issues already this did not make me happy) b/c they were going to pump my bladder full of fluid when i got there so they could do an external u/s of my uterus. i asked the nurse if there was anyway around this b/c i had been through it before and they put SOOOOOO much in your bladder and it kills. she asked the dr and he said just a trans vag would be fine with him, but it was up to the radiologist...who said that they would do both an external and internal. so i had to have it anyway. they were so good to me though that they tried to work w/ me. :)
anyway, so i sleep until i go down there and matt came with. it was painful, but i got through it. we got to see the baby with a great heartbeat of 138bpm. we'll see him/her again today and actually get a print out. so the baby was fine and they checked to see if maybe my ovary was twisted and that was fine. so then i had an u/s of my kidneys. THAT hurt the worst. probe on bone (she went through my liver and lungs to see it so she was on my ribcage) and pushing really hard SUCKED so bad. but i knew it would b/c i've had THAT before too! so i was prepared, but it still sucked. :)
ANYWAY...so everything looked good w/ the baby and the u/s of my kidneys looked fine. BUT my urine had quite a bit of blood in it apparently. the doctor still thought it was a stone and maybe i passed it while i was there, that's why my u/s came back good, but he also said that u/s isn't their first choice to diagnose kidney stones. if i wasn't PG they would have done a CT scan but that was out of the question. so by this time i was still feeling really good and they sent me home w/ an Rx for tylenol w/ codeine just in case the pain came back. but they said to come back if the pain is as bad as it was before or i was vomiting. good thing it's pretty much gone away!! i still have this little tugging type pain in my abdomen where i first felt the pain, but it comes and goes and is very mild. i have a follow up appt w/ my family doctor today after my u/s at my RE office so we'll see what he says.
WHEW...now that i've written a novel i'm off. i'll be back later with u/s pics and personals!
love you girls--
well my appt w/ my general dr went good. some sensitivity when he pressed in spots and my urethra is being a pain, but other than that i feel really good compared to yesterday. he said there was still some blood in my urine so he'll want to do a repeat culture at the end of the month to see if that goes away. i have to strain my urine until my issues go away. just in case i pass a stone or sediment. they'll be able to analyse it and such if i find one. other than that it's pretty much a wait and see kind of thing. lots of fluids and hopefully my pain won't come back. oh and i just have to say i really freaking love my general practitioner. he is FANTASTIC and very throughough. he asked DH and i if we knew how to strain my pee...and he made a total joke of it. telling us that i'd need to pee in our colander, or a baseball hat, or a tea strainer :) i really like that guy. plus he's super hot. hehe. so hopefully things will clear up and i won't have to go through that again.
well i graduated from my RE office today! woo hoo! kind of sad though b/c i love that office. everything with the baby looks great (see my siggy for pic)!! baby is more than twice the size it was last week. it went from 5.1mm to 10.9mm!! i wish i got a print out of the u/s they did in the ER last night. the u/s machine is WAY better than the one at my RE office and i could see much more than just a blob. oh well. next time i see my baby it'll actually look like a baby!!
and for your viewing pleasure...here is our little one as of today.
